Post Weight Loss Surgery Cost in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley
This page is the starting point for the cost of skin removal surgery after significant weight loss. I have a separate cost page for each operation I perform. Each one states my surgical fee, an estimated total with and without private health cover, what my fee includes, and the Medicare item number that may apply. Choose the body area below to go to the page you need.
These pages cover surgery after significant weight loss, whether that came through bariatric surgery, medication or lifestyle change. Costs after pregnancy are covered separately.

Each link goes to the cost page for that operation.
Abdomen
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) cost for loose skin across the lower abdomen. Covers full and extended abdominoplasty.
- Fleur de Lis abdominoplasty cost for skin excess that runs side to side as well as top to bottom, treated with a vertical limb added to the standard incision.
- Dual vector abdominoplasty cost for my own technique for skin laxity that runs in more than one direction.
- Upper and lower abdominal lipectomy cost for skin excess both above and below the belly button (umbilicus), removed through 2 separate excisions.
- Apronectomy (panniculectomy) cost for removal of the overhanging apron of skin and fat only, without repositioning the belly button (umbilicus).
Around the whole trunk
- Belt lipectomy (body lift) cost for skin removal around the full circumference of the lower trunk: abdomen, flanks, lower back and buttocks.
- Circumferential hybrid abdominoplasty cost for my technique combining a vertical lipectomy with a belt lipectomy (body lift) when skin excess runs in every direction around the trunk.
Arms and upper body
- Brachioplasty (arm lift) cost for loose skin of the upper arm from the axilla (armpit) to the elbow.
- Bra line lipectomy (upper back lift) cost for rolls of skin across the upper back and the sides of the chest.
Thighs and buttocks
- Thighplasty (thigh lift) cost for loose skin of the inner thighs.
- Gluteal lipectomy (buttock lift) cost for loose, flattened skin of the buttocks where a full belt lipectomy (body lift) is not needed.
Male chest
Male chest surgery after weight loss cost for men with loose chest skin after weight loss, with or without remaining gland or fat, including the torsoplasty (upper body lift) extension around the sides of the chest.
Pubic area
Pubic lift (monsplasty) cost for loose or full skin of the mons pubis, on its own or as part of an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
How my quotes work
Every operation involves 3 separate bills: my surgical fee, the anaesthetist’s fee, and Maitland Private Hospital’s charges for theatre and your stay. My fee is fixed once your operation is planned. The anaesthetist and the hospital bill you directly and set their own charges, which is why the totals on each cost page are estimates. After your consultation my rooms give you a written estimate of all 3 parts.
Where a Medicare item number applies, Medicare and your health fund contribute to the surgeon and anaesthetist fees, and your hospital cover pays for theatre and your stay less any excess. Whether an item number applies is assessed at consultation. I go through the criteria in my Medicare coverage guide for abdominoplasty after weight loss.

Your next step

You need a GP referral before your first consultation. I see patients at my rooms in Lorn, Maitland, and by telehealth for patients in regional NSW. The consultation takes about 1 hour, and a second consultation to go through your blood results and finalise the plan is included at no cost.
