Why Choose Dr Beldholm for Facelift or Neck Lift Surgery?
As a patient of Dr Beldholm, you will be guided through a four-stage process designed with your results and safety in mind. He strives to ensure each patient feels comfortable and receives answers to all their questions so they can make an informed decision of whether to have facial rejuvenation surgery.
We are here for you.
Step 1: Private Consultation
Having performed thousands of surgical procedures over the past decade, Dr Beldholm will recommend an option that is customised for you, based on his vast experience. The decision to undergo any surgery will be made after it has been determined that it is safe for you to do so and that the results will match your expectations. By the end of the consultation all your questions will be answered so that you can make a well informed decision. You will receive a detailed quote for the options that have been discussed.
If you decide to proceed, Dr Beldholm and his team will collaborate with you on designing a personalised treatment plan and scheduling a convenient date and location for your surgery. You will be provided with all pre-operative and post-operative information.
Your appointment with Dr. Beldholm can be scheduled at our Hunter Valley location:
- 30 Belmore Rd, Lorn NSW 2320: a beautiful converted heritage house in the Hunter Valley
- H+ Consulting Suites, Cooks Hill Healthcare Hub, Suite 3, 235 Darby Street, Cooks Hill NSW: a modern facility in the heart of Newcastle
- Virtual consultations on Zoom are also available
It can be quite overwhelming when you consider having surgery and often it can be hard to remember all the information that we have provided you. We therefore provide you with written information about your procedure as well as an option to come back and have further follow up consultations with Dr Beldholm at no additional charge.
Step 2: Your Surgery
Dr Beldholm performs his facelift and neck lift procedures in two private hospitals in the Hunter Valley:
- Maitland Private Hospital
- Hunter Valley Private Hospital
There is a wide range of surgical options that are possible. The options are customised to your unique facial shape and the result you desire.
Mini Facelift
A mini facelift is a skin-only facelift with a small amount of tightening of the deep fascia.
This procedure improves accordion lines on the cheek, jowls and jawline.
Full Facelift
A full facelift involves lifting the skin and tightening the deep fascia to re-position loose tissues.
Mini Facelift Combined with a Neck Lift
A neck lift combined with a mini-facelift to tighten and tone the jawline, cheeks, chin and jowls.
VASER liposculpture is added if you have a significant double chin or turkey neck. This removes the excess fat and sculpts the neck.
Step 3: Postoperative Care and Recovery
Recovery from facelift surgery will vary for each individual and will depend on the extent of your procedure.
With a ‘mini’ facelift, you can generally return home on the same day as surgery, following a post-operative check by Dr. Beldholm; however, a full facelift will require an overnight stay in the hospital.
A head garment will be fitted after the operation, which you will be required to wear for 2 to 4 weeks following surgery.
You will be reviewed several times over the first few weeks. Most patients return to work and regular activities approximately two to three weeks after the operation, although downtime varies from person to person.
You will receive aftercare instructions after you leave the hospital to maximise wound healing.
Step 4: Follow up Care
Your procedure is not considered complete until Dr. Beldholm has met with you to follow up after your operation. He will ensure you are healing as expected and that all the expectations discussed in your one-on-one consultation have been met.
You will generally see the doctor on the day after the operation and also in 1 month, 3 months and 6 months following surgery. These appointments are included in the surgical fee.
The final result may take about a year to become fully apparent, as swelling subsides and the surgical scar matures.
