Deep Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty) Cost in Newcastle NSW

A deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) is a submental operation. Through an incision under the chin, I work beneath the platysma muscle to remove subplatysmal fat and reduce the anterior digastric muscles, then repair the platysma in the midline. It is not the neck component of a facelift (rhytidectomy), and it is not VASER (ultrasound-assisted liposuction) of the neck, which works on the fat above the platysma. Each of those has its own cost page. This page covers a deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) performed on its own.

A deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure, and GST is charged on every fee.

My surgical fee starts at $6,589 including GST for the least complex case. That is my fee only. The anaesthetist and Maitland Private Hospital bill separately and set their own charges. Including all three, the total comes to approximately $14,500 including GST. No Medicare rebate or health fund contribution applies to any part of it. You receive an individual written quote after consultation. The least complex case means a normal BMI, a deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) as the sole procedure through a single submental incision, a day stay, and no additional procedures.

at no additional charge.

What makes up your total cost

The figure on this page is built from separate charges, each billed by the party that provides the service:

My surgical fee

This covers the deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) itself: the submental incision, removal of subplatysmal fat, reduction of the anterior digastric muscles, and midline repair of the platysma. I do not remove the submandibular glands for cosmetic reasons, so gland work is not part of this operation or its fee.

The anaesthetist

Billed separately. The operation is performed under general anaesthesia. Your anaesthetic consultation is by phone in most cases, with the physical assessment on the day of surgery.

Maitland Private Hospital

Theatre time at the cosmetic rate and a day stay. An overnight stay is available if you prefer, at the hospital’s overnight rate.

Disposables

Instruments, dressings and consumables used during the operation.

Two things change the quote. If VASER (ultrasound-assisted liposuction) of the neck is indicated as well, it adds to the surgical fee and the operating time. If your assessment shows that the neck skin and the lower face need to be treated together, that is a different operation, a facelift (rhytidectomy) with the neck component, and it is quoted on the neck lift (cervicoplasty) cost page rather than here.

Medicare and health funds

No Medicare item number applies to a deep neck lift (cervicoplasty), so there is no rebate and no health fund contribution towards the surgical, anaesthetist or hospital fees. Because no item number applies, 10% GST is charged on each of those fees, and Maitland Private Hospital charges a higher rate for cosmetic theatre time than it does for procedures with an item number. That is why the total on this page is stated including GST.

If a revision operation is needed within 12 months of your surgery, I do not charge a surgical fee for it. The anaesthetist and hospital charges for that operation still apply.

Your next step

Consultation for Diastasis Recti Surgery
Consultation with Dr Beldholm

A GP referral is needed before your first consultation. The consultation takes about an hour at my rooms in Maitland and includes standardised photography, examination of the neck layer by layer, and a discussion of what a deep neck lift (cervicoplasty) can and cannot change for you. If you live further out, the first consultation can be by telehealth, with an in-person examination before any surgery is planned. Your written quote follows that consultation.
