Breast Surgery Cost in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley
The cost of breast surgery in my practice is made up of 3 separate accounts: my surgical fee, the anaesthetist’s fee, and Maitland Private Hospital’s theatre and stay fees. The anaesthetist and the hospital bill separately and set their own charges. Where an operation involves implants, the implants are a separate cost item.
Most breast operations are cosmetic: no Medicare item applies and GST is charged. Some operations, most often breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) and some breast lifts (mastopexy) and implant removals, carry a Medicare item where the clinical criteria are met, and Medicare and your health fund then contribute. Which position applies to your operation is assessed at consultation.
Each procedure page below states my starting surgical fee and an approximate total for the least complex case of that operation, and lists what moves the figure. Your individual written quote follows consultation.

Your next step

On every breast operation my surgical fee includes your second consultation, all follow-up reviews to 12 months, your surgical garments and LED light therapy. The procedure pages list the full inclusions.
A GP referral is required before a consultation. I consult at my rooms in Lorn, Maitland. For patients travelling from regional NSW, the first consultation can be by telehealth, with examination in person before any surgery is booked.
For Medicare items, health fund cover, GST and worked examples, read the Full breast surgery cost guide. For what each operation involves, see the breast surgery procedure pages.
