A 43-year-old woman
Four children (ages 13, 11, 9, and 2)
Presents with both aesthetic and functional abdominal concerns.
No history of C-sections.
Significant abdominal wall laxity and diastasis recti
Despite undergoing physiotherapy, she continues to experience significant back pain and stress incontinence, especially during exercise at the gym.
Her lower abdomen shows visible stretch marks, and there are mild fat deposits in the area.
An ultrasound of the abdominal wall confirmed the diagnosis of diastasis recti, with the largest separation located approximately 30mm above the umbilicus, measuring 70mm in maximum transverse dimension. Further divergence above the umbilicus measures between 13 to 50mm, with a more pronounced gap closer to the umbilicus. Inferior to the umbilicus, the separation measures 18mm, and at the level of the umbilicus, it measures 68mm. There is no evidence of abdominal or umbilical hernia upon straining.
