Demographics
- 43-year-old woman
- Mother of four children (ages 13, 11, 9, and 2)
- All births were vaginal; no caesarean history
Current Concerns
- Abdominal wall laxity
- Diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles)
- Ongoing back pain
- Stress urinary incontinence, particularly with exercise
Previous Management
- Undertook physiotherapy
- Symptoms persist despite conservative treatment
Imaging Results (Ultrasound)
- Confirmed diastasis recti
- Largest separation ~70 mm, located ~30 mm above umbilicus
- Divergence above umbilicus: 13–50 mm
- Separation at umbilicus: 68 mm
- Inferior to umbilicus: 18 mm
- No abdominal or umbilical hernia detected
Functional Impact
- Physical discomfort during daily activities and exercise
- Stress incontinence with exertion
- Back pain related to abdominal wall weakness
Operation Details
The patient underwent an abdominoplasty with VASER liposuction (Suction-Assisted lipectomy) of the abdomen and diastasis recti repair.
Fat (adipose tissue) Removed with liposuction (Suction assisted lipectomy): 1100 ml
Abdominal Flap:
- Right Side: 316g
- Left Side: 281g
- Middle Tissue Removed: 153g
Diastasis Recti Repair:
- Midline separation: 8.5 cm (at the umbilicus)
- Below umbilicus: 9 cm
- Above umbilicus: 8 cm
VASER Liposuction (Suction assisted lipectomy):
- Total time: 60 minutes
- Probe used: 5-ringed probe
