Ideal Candidates
VASER is suitable for both men and women who have met their target weight. Patients who tend to be great candidates for VASER liposuction are those who are already committed to a healthy lifestyle and consistently exercise as well as eat a healthy diet. They should also possess durable skin tone and be in good health. Patients should also have realistic expectations and fully understand that VASER lipo will not help a patient lose weight or keep it off.
The Process
Unlike traditional lipo, VASER lipo uses soundwaves to liquefy the fat before it is removed from the body. During the procedure, patients will receive general anesthesia to numb the area where Dr Beldholm will make small incisions around the area being treated. Following surgery, patients will be required to wear compression garments for several weeks around the treated areas, in this case the patient’s abs and sides.
The Risks
As with most surgeries, there’s always the possibility of complications–some which can be serious. Some of these risks can include infection, serious bleeding or swelling after the surgery. Dr Beldholm and his staff will discuss the full range of potential risks before a patient makes the decision to undergo VASER liposuction.
The Recovery
How long it takes to heal will ultimately vary from person to person. For most patients, recovery can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Although the procedure is less invasive than traditional lipo, patients should expect some degree of bruising, swelling and pain. Most patients can also expect to take about a week off from work following surgery. Even though patients will notice immediate results, the final results can take up to 4-6 months. It’s important to note that proper diet and exercise will be necessary to maintain the these results.
